January 9, 2024 – Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Group will exhibit a wide variety of its popular inspection systems at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), being held in Atlanta, January 30 to February 1, 2024. The affordable new X12 x-ray system will be on display, and a brand new metal detector conveyor, designed specifically for the meat/protein industry, will be introduced in booth #C25159 alongside other world-class x-ray systems, metal detectors, vision systems and combination systems from Mettler-Toledo. These technologies help meat and protein processors and packers safeguardood safety and product quality to protect consumers as well as the brand’s reputation.
“Cost pressures, such as higher labor and material costs, as well as increased inventories are hurting meat and protein processors and packers on multiple levels. On top of that, finding and retaining qualified employees is harder than ever and regulatory compliance is more stringent. We’re here to help,” said Tom Koshy, Sales Director at Mettler-Toledo. “Recent developments in detection technology have improved the ability to reliably find contaminants and better satisfy compliance. At the same time, we’ve enhanced our automation, training resources and service organization to better support customers with high employee turnover. We’ve also designed more affordable systems, reduced the number of components per system and unified component usage across models in an effort to keep customers’ costs down.”
Two high-performance x-ray inspection systems will be showcased at IPPE – the affordable new X12 for small- and medium-sized packaged products and the premium X36 Series DXD that delivers outstanding quality assurance for even the most challenging applications. Both systems detect hard-to-find physical contaminants such as bone, glass, metal and stone. Beyond foreign material detection and removal, these x-ray systems can perform a variety of product integrity checks to improve overall product quality.
Additionally, Mettler-Toledo will exhibit their C35 washdown-ready AdvancedLine checkweigher, which detects and rejects under- and overweight packages to ensure legal weight requirements are met while reducing product giveaway. Featuring powerful FlashCell™ EMFR technology, the C35 maximizes accuracy at throughputs of up to 800 packages per minute. Also on display is the CV35 ‘combination’ system that integrates a C35 checkweigher with vision inspection to achieve precise weighing and label inspection functions on a single, space-saving unit. The CV35 combo system can verify the weight printed on each label matches the weight of each product.
The metal detectors being showcased include the next-generation M34R, which features dual-simultaneous frequency (DSF) technology to improve detection sensitivity by up to 25 percent and reduces false rejects in challenging wet or metalized film applications. The Profile Advantage pipeline metal detector on exhibit inspects liquids, slurries and purees for metal contamination. Accompanied by a diverter valve reject device, this pipeline system automatically transfers rejected product to a diversion bin for analysis to help ensure food safety while maximizing yields.
Mettler-Toledo’s new conveyor, designed specifically for the meat/protein industries, will be introduced at IPPE with the M34R metal detector mounted on top. Featuring stainless steel construction, toolless removable rollers and skid rails, cable trays and pigtails for cable management, captive hardware and an optional magnetic drive for energy efficiency, the new conveyor withstands harsh washdowns for improved sanitation and greater longevity.
The V31 vision system on exhibit inspects packaged products for the presence, print quality and correct content on labels including 1D and 2D codes, text and graphics. By preventing label and package mix-ups, the V31 reduces rework and the risk of product recalls.
Mettler-Toledo’s recently updated ProdX™ software, which is compatible with virtually all Mettler-Toledo inspection systems, allows processors and packers to monitor their inspection equipment remotely and easily collect, save, search and share data. In addition to complying with regulatory requirements, ProdX helps protect food safety and improve process efficiencies. The new Version 2.6 ProdX introduces an optimized web dashboard, automated reporting capabilities and more.
