April 23, 2024 – Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Group will exhibit several of their popular inspection systems at NPE: The Plastics Show in booth #S11118. Ideal for inspecting plastic products and packages, Mettler-Toledo’s industry-leading x-ray systems, metal detectors, checkweighers and vision systems help ensure product quality and recyclability while improving operational efficiencies.

“Inspection equipment plays a critical role in maintaining high quality standards across the plastics industry by finding imperfections and contamination in plastic products like car parts and plastic containers prior to packaging as well as in packaged products,” said Jordan Davis, Product Line Manager at Mettler-Toledo. “For example, our vision systems can check the integrity of plastic bottles as well as cap presence and skew. Our metal detectors and x-ray systems help eliminate foreign material contamination within plastic products and packages, which enhances product safety and improves recyclability. And our checkweighers detect and reject under and overweight plastic products and containers.”

This year at NPE, Mettler-Toledo will be showcasing their V57 vision system for inspecting rigid plastic packages. Installed directly after blow molding, the system checks for contaminants, debris, cracks and/or improper formation on sidewalls to ensure only ‘good’ containers advance to downstream processes. Featuring intuitive software and available with a variety of options including product tracking, the V57 helps control quality while simplifying operation.

Mettler-Toledo will also be exhibiting its Gravity Fall metal detector for removing all types of metal contaminants from bulk, free flowing product like plastic pallets and granules used to form packages. When equipped with the optional ATS (Automatic Test System) capability, a test of four metal types confirms centerline sensitivity in under a minute. The test can be conducted while the detector is at height, which improves operator safety.

Another metal detector on display at NPE will be the M31R for bulk and packaged products. Featuring Mettler-Toledo’s sophisticated SENSE™ software, this entry-level system utilizes advanced algorithms to deliver increased detection sensitivity with minimal false rejects.

Mettler-Toledo’s newest x-ray system, the X12, will also be on exhibit. Designed for small- and medium-sized products and packages, this affordable, high-performance solution detects hard-to-find physical contaminants including glass and metal. Additionally, the X12 can perform a variety of integrity checks, such as correct product placement within a package, to further ensure quality.

A C31 checkweigher will be running cases of product in plastic bottles at the show. This economical workhorse offers 100 percent inline inspection for a wide variety of applications in wet and dry environments. With a range of product handling options and featuring easy installation, operation and cleaning, this popular checkweigher ensures products are the correct weight and reduces giveaway.

Mettler-Toledo’s ProdX™ software, which will also be showcased at NPE, is available on virtually all their inspection systems. By enabling customers to monitor their equipment remotely and easily collect, save, search and share data, ProdX improves product safety and increases production efficiencies while ensuring regulatory compliance.
