August 19, 2025 – Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Group will demonstrate a variety of inspection equipment for the commercial baking industry at IBIE, being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Sept. 14-17, 2025. Located at booth 2473 in the West Hall, the company will present solutions that help processors of baked goods improve food safety, enhance product quality and optimize production efficiencies while addressing evolving market demands and regulatory requirements.
In addition to the technology in their booth, Mettler-Toledo is hosting a seminar by Stuart Thomas on “Metal Detection, X-ray, or Both - Helping You Make the Right Choice” on Monday, Sept. 15 and Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the West Hall, rooms 203/204. The session will cover different types of product inspection solutions and how they help eliminate recalls, reduce contaminants and comply with regulations.
“Industrial baking operations today face tough decisions about where and how to allocate resources,” said Thomas Koshy, Sales Director at Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection – United States. “We offer a comprehensive portfolio of inspection technologies for various control points that enable processors to focus on their unique quality and safety goals, such as metal detection at bulk ingredient infeed to remove sieve wire fragments, x-ray equipment to identify missing items in multi-packs and vision systems to verify labels and tab closures. Our goal is to help commercial bakeries choose the best tools for their products, processes and customers, so each investment delivers maximum value.”
At IBIE this year, Mettler-Toledo will highlight their CM (checkweigher and metal detector) and CV (checkweigher and vision) combination systems. With unparalleled versatility, Mettler-Toledo's combination systems are available for many budgets and in multiple configurations including an all-in-one checkweigher/vision/x-ray/metal detector solution that provides comprehensive quality control in a single unit.
Also on display will be the V31 vision inspection system. This versatile technology can inspect products like English muffins for color and shape consistency, as well as inspect packaged items like loaves of bread to verify label presence and readability and confirm the presence of tab closures.
For bulk, free-flowing products, Mettler-Toledo will exhibit a Gravity Flow metal detector featuring ATS (Automatic Test System), which enables a test of four metal types to confirm centerline sensitivity in under a minute. When equipped with optional system upgrades for Hazardous Locations, such as commercial bakeries where potentially flammable dusts are prevalent, these HazLoc-compliant systems for Class II, Division 1 and Division 2 areas adhere to stringent compliance requirements.
Turning to x-ray inspection, the X16 will be showcased as an entry-level solution ideal for medium- to large-sized products. It’s equipped with an advanced HiGain detector that excels at recognizing contaminants including metal, glass, stone, bone and low-density materials across single or multi-lanes. Additionally, the X16 can perform quality and integrity checks such as mass component count, fill level and damaged packaging identification.
Mettler-Toledo will also feature the X52, a dual energy x-ray system that delivers sophisticated inspection capabilities at an attractive price point. Designed to meet the demands of challenging applications, the X52's proprietary software provides increased adaptability by seamlessly transitioning between single energy, dual energy or both modes, optimizing technology performance depending on the application.
For dry, wet and frozen bakery items in small- to medium-sized packages, the M31R metal detector with a streamlined conveyor will be on display. Featuring Mettler-Toledo’s advanced SENSE™ software, the M31R offers improved sensitivity with fewer false rejects, making it a cost-effective solution for facilities seeking high performance within a smaller footprint.
Virtually all systems on exhibit at IBIE will be equipped with Mettler-Toledo's ProdX™ software. By enabling customers to monitor their equipment remotely and easily collect, save, search and share data, ProdX improves product safety and increases production efficiencies while maintaining regulatory compliance.
